The first ALCs in Rabat and Tangier were founded in the 1950’s by the US Embassy and the US Information Service with the purpose of teaching English as a foreign language. By the 1970’s, independent non-governmental management was needed and the American Cultural Association (ACA) was created. The ACA and ALC Rabat are a Moroccan-based, non-profit organization funded solely by tuition, with no government affiliation or financial support.
The American Language Center Rabat is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to promote positive relations and understanding between the people of Morocco and the US through language, culture, ideas and opportunities.
